Gopher State Travel Teams

GOPHER STATE TEAMS POSTED

Thank you to all players who came out for the 2024 Gopher State Tryouts! We have a talented group of players coming through Sartell Baseball and we are excited for the future of baseball. The rosters for 2024 GS Teams have been posted. If you have any questions please reach out me at n_hemmesch@hotmail.com or 320-293-5632.

Head coaches are all listed with teams as well, if you have any interest in assisting I recommend that you reach out to your teams Head Coach and see if there is anything you can help with. Please note there are some teams where coaches will need to be identified yet.

For those who did not make a Gopher State team there is still an opportunity to play baseball in Sartell with the CMCBL League. More information regarding that league comes out in late winter/early spring. Please watch SportsEngine for updates!

A couple Gopher State things to know for those new to Gopher State or the area:

  • A non refundable fee will be required to hold your players spot (amount TBD yet), this fee covers a portion of the tournaments your player will play in this spring.  The Sartell Baseball fee will still be due this spring.
  • Tournaments start coming out by December and coaches usually must register by the beginning of January, if you have weekends that do NOT work for your player be proactive in notifying your coach, it is impossible to schedule around things coaches don't know exist.
  • Full season schedules become available in April, the first week of play for 10-13s can be as early as Mid-April. Playoffs can go into the middle of July.
  • Sartell Baseball is a volunteer run association- each family will be required to provide a volunteer deposit check in the spring that is held until DIBS (volunteer hours) are completed. More information regarding this will come out in the spring.

Welcome to Gopher State Baseball through SBA

Levels of Play

  • AAA - The highest competitive level; the top team from a traveling baseball association.
  • AA - The intermediate level of play. The AA level is intended for teams from baseball associations that have already provided teams at the AAA level. AA may also (in some cases) be defined as a level for traveling teams that are not currently able to compete at the AAA level
  • -  Developmental level of traveling baseball. The A level is often used to place teams trying to prepare for a higher level of play.

Gopher State requires additional travel, expense, and tournaments. We strongly encourage families to consider these additional responsibilities and to register your player in the program that is the best fit.

Eligibility

A player is eligible to participate in SBA tryouts if the following criteria are met:

  • Player must have a legal residence within the Sartell School District boundaries
  • All applicable fees are paid
  • Age guidelines are met

Please see below guideline for age groups:

10U - Cannot be 11 on or before May 1st, 2024. (typically entering 4th grade Sept. 2023)

11U - Cannot be 12 on or before May 1st, 2024. (typically entering 5th grade Sept. 2023)

12U - Cannot be 13 on or before May 1st, 2024. (typically entering 6th grade Sept. 2023)

Kindly note: MYAS (Gopher State) Guidelines require players to tryout in the community in which they reside or attend school.  If you have previously played in another surrounding MYAS organization (St Cloud / Sauk Rapids), you are required to tryout in your home community. These requirements are for players looking to play for a different MYAS Team as MYAS does not require a community to host tryouts in forming their Travel teams.

Please see the FAQ area of our website for additional information.

If at any point you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to our Gopher State Director Nicholas Hemmesch.
