2020 Baseball Updates

The SBA Board did hold a virtual meeting on Sunday, 5/17/20, and wanted to give an update to our families on the status of youth baseball for the 2020 season. The coronavirus pandemic has led the SBA Board to make some difficult decisions regarding youth baseball for 2020. We continue to work with MYAS, and CMC leagues and our partnering communities to address what is safe and best for all our players.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the K-2 League (Pitchball and Rookie Ball ages 6-8) and the Summer Sandlot program knowing that younger age groups are going to have a difficult time maintaining guidelines from CDC and MDH. As of this date no decision has been made for CMC or Gopher State as we are continuing to watch the MYAS back to the field initiative with the State of MN task force to see what more may come from that. Our hope and intention is to make a decision for these leagues by June 1, 2020.

With that said, here is an update per league and age group as of 5/17/20:

Summer Sandlot: Cancelled for 2020. Full refunds to be issued to families. (Refunds for CMC/GS families will not occur until a decision regarding CMC/GS Leagues is made.)
K-2 League (Pitchball & Rookie Ball, ages 6-8): Cancelled for 2020. Full refunds to be issued to families.
CMCBL League (ages 9-15): On hold for 2020.
Gopher State Traveling League (ages 10-14): On hold for 2020.
VFW (ages 15-16): On hold for 2020.
Legion (ages 17-18): Canceled at national level. Considerations are being discussed when and if allowed to play in 2020.
We will start processing refunds for the K-2 League (Pitchball & Rookie Ball) and Summer Sandlot in the near future. Please be patient as we work through this process.

If at any point and time your family decides that your child is not going to play this season regardless of the decisions coming from SBA, please email Mark Dingmann at at your convenience so a refund can be processed on your behalf. We completely understand if that is the case. Please stay safe!

Brent Weber Memorial at St. Cloud Orthopedics Field

The family of Brent Weber, Sartell Baseball and the Pinecone Park Association would like to announce that a memorial will be installed at St. Cloud Orthopedics Field to honor Brent Weber.

There will be a 16-foot brick memorial in the shape of a baseball that will be installed in the grassy area behind the visitors’ dugout.  The center of the memorial will include large bricks with an image of Brent and his baseball legacy.

The bricks will be sold for $250 each and the proceeds will be designated towards a capital campaign to enhance the fan seating area.  Brent had visions of improvements for Champion Field, now known as St Cloud Orthopedics Field and the sale of the bricks will help to make these enhancements happen.

Brent Weber was a pillar in our community and we are fortunate that he shared his passion for baseball with all of us. For 7 years he led the Sartell Baseball Association through significant field improvement projects, programming expansion and player growth.  He served many roles in our league from cooking burgers at tournaments, working on the fields, coaching, and serving as our President.  The Sartell Baseball Association contributes much of our success over the past decade to his dedicated service and leadership.  Brent’s impact made a significant difference that will be felt in the Sartell area baseball community for many years to come.  Brent showed a courageous battle with ALS and it’s an honor to recognize what he meant to all of us and to leave a legacy at this ballpark in his name.

Brick orders may be placed online at or by completing the order form and mailing the form and payment to the address provided on the brochure.
